Acoustic Guitar In The Background – Spotify Playlist

Hi Everyone!

I created a wonderful playlist of fingerstyle guitar music.

In response to the popular Piano in the Background, now you can have a wonderful independently created playlist of guitar in the background.

Please follow it and share the playlist as to help grow  fingerstyle guitar interest.

Make sure to follow me on Spotify as well. I’m releasing beautiful  Instrumental Christmas music alongside my music partner, Avery Bright, that I’m quite certain you will love and enjoy!

Here are some other new releases that you might enjoy!

Growing up as a kid in the 80’s you cou;dn’t help but love the muppets! This tune is the same tune Kermit the Frog sang with the banjo! Now available in the most beautiful arrangement for guitar and violin!

I’m a big fan of the musical artist, Brandi Carlile!

This song is just so nice and I’m reminded of my love story with my wife everytime I hear it or play it!

New stuff July 2015

Hi Everyone! I hope you’re enjoying the first week of July. Here in Nashville, it’s raining and thunderstorms everywhere. So I’ve been busy uploading videos and wanted to show them to you. Especially if you’re not a youtube subscriber. These are all finger style guitar songs. And you’ll notice that I have tabs for sale for a few of them.

First, is my song Us Together. It’s a lovely song inspired by just hanging out with family etc. It also reminds me of getting opportunities to play with my guitar heroes like Tommy Emmanuel, Phil Keaggy, and Pete Huttlinger. You can google them, they’re seriously good and I’m doing my best to follow in their leadership.

You can also buy the tab to this song here for only $4.95.  BUY NOW

Hope you enjoy the song.

This is another beautiful tune, Peaceful Dreamer. Written for my wife, who likes to sleep in in the mornings. Isn’t it lovely? Sleep… yes. Maybe this song can help you or a little one get some much needed rest.

And this is a song on my first album. It’s the title track, Sometimes in Life. I also have tab for this one as well.  BUY TAB. $4.95

Also happening….

I’m headed to NAMM next week, as well as the 2015 Chet Atkins Appreciation society convention. Busy week! And on top of that I have a gig on Friday the 10th in Nashville and a wedding to play on the 11th. As a guitarist making a living in Nashville area, I have to be on top of my professional behavior and do what I can to continue my dream job of playing guitar for a living. It’s a great challenge and I enjoy the rewards!

At NAMM I plan to meet the new guys at Takamine, which is now managed by ESP guitars, and meet a new friend that works with Lanikai Ukuleles! I’m excited about Lanikai, as I may be doing some ukulele lessons for their site. That typically means new, beautiful ukulele. 🙂 I’ll keep you posted about all that. I’ll also be checking out the main floor, looking at people products and services. I’ll keep you informed if I think it’s cool.

BTW Thanks for downloading any of my music on itunes last month. I took my family out to dinner and ice cream. Would be nice to pay my house off with my music, so keep telling people about Lance Allen music and listening on iTunes, Pandora, wherever.. My music will also be on Apple music, so if you’re a subscriber to that, please feel free to play my music over and over and over again.

End of month I’m competing in the Indiana Fingerstyle Guitar competition. Check it out and cheer me on!

I visited the Guitar Gallery today and played a few wonderful guitars. Again, a Julius Borges was friggin amazing! and I tinkered on a very beautiful sounding Delgado classical guitar. A Bown also stuck out to me as a wonderful and very resonant instrument! Check them all out I’ve included links.

Lance Allen - Melody Maker

The Songs Blue Ireland (Featuring Phil Keaggy)

This song is inspired from a trip to London. One that I’ll never forget. We descended, and the pilot said we were over Ireland. I looked out the window and saw nothing but blue. It was the sea of blue and barely what I imagined Ireland looking like from above. My appreciation for Irish music is what may have led to this song! Not only did I record a neat song, It was a dream come true to record with Phil Keaggy. He has been a guitar influence to me since my teenage years. His contribution here is really amazing! You can hear his unique styling and percussive tapping.  If you listen carefully you can here a touch of Ebow, which Phil is known for using.

Fingernail Moon My son and I love looking at the moon and its wonder. When its just right it can appear to look like a fingernail. I think this pretty song was deserving of a title that give credit to something so beautiful in the sky.

I Love You Lullaby Inspired by a book that was read during my son’s younger days. This is a perfect example of a lullaby. Experience a memory when listening.

Landon Boy Another dedication to my awesome son. When he was born this is the first song he heard. As he glanced around, I know he was listening.

Melody Maker I think this song gives me a sense of purpose. Now that I have a catalog of guitar music, this seemed to be very fitting. Melody Maker is certainly melodic and a song that has my signature.

Ode To Batson This is another song where it was inspired by a guitar. My friends Cory and Grant, have built some amazing guitars which are unique.  Batson Guitars

O’Farely’s Waltz O’Farely is the psuedo-name that I have given my friend, Michael Farley. He loves Irish music and DADGAD tuning. This song is just that. A bit of Irish, and in a special tuning called DADGAD. Mr. O’Farley has been a wonderful influence to me as a friend and mentor.

Pacific Drive The title Pacific drive came from a memory of driving the PCH (pacific coast highway) It is a grooving beautiful drive and deserving of a fun guitar song.

Pura Vida Pura vida in Costa Rica is a surfers term meaning that everything is all good, and life is awesome. We recently had a visit there, and it was an amazing experience. Hopefully this song will remind you of a beautiful place.

Sunshine Falling Every Monday during the school year I volunteer at a music school in Nashville, TN, WO Smith music. I get there early every time, because I love playing guitar in their foyer. It’s really full of reverb! One morning, the sun sun was shining bright on my shoulder. I was playing the middle part of this tune and singing, “Sunshine, falling like raindrops”

My new cd is out and ready!

First day in studio with Richard Smith

Today was the first day in studio with Richard Smith. It was fun and focused. We did 13 songs today! I think that might be a record!

I may have to fix or redo one one called “Travel Time” which has a difficult part where I somewhat lose the groove, but can be fixed with some practice with a metronome. I’m headed back next week to mix and finalize! 🙂

Hang in there and do tell a friend. I’m very passionate about these songs and inspired to play the guitar more and more.

Here is a short video I put together of the studio and my song “Long Island” is in the background.

The song “Long Island” was inspired by a trip to Long Island. I met my skype student, George Giannaris for a few days. The Batson guitar company also came and we were showing off guitars for the community in the north fork of Long Island. George’s friend fixed us a Greek coffee, which is similar to Turkish coffee. I stayed up very late that night playin with a new tuning on the guitar that was unfamiliar to me. DADF#AE. This song was born.

“East Nashville” Song by Lance Allen

Inspired by driving around Nashville TN in the Eastern part.

That’s where a lot of hip and trendy things are happening. This will more than likely be on my upcoming CD, “Us Together”! I’m currently getting the plans and will be sharing more info and updates that arise! Enjoy the video of me playing my new song “East Nashville”

It’s that time of year again and so many people come to CAAS. (Chet Atkins Appreciation Society)

This, I believe, is my tenth year in a row that I’ve come to the event and I’ve been very fortunate to play the event for the last three years. CAAS was a great event for me and my dad to get together and hang. He passed in 2010 and going gives me a good memory of him and the legacy that he left me on the guitar.

My career owes a lot to CAAS. On my first year I met some English people, that became friends immediately. This eventually led me to a trip in 2008 to London and I got to perform for a finger style guitar club in Chesham.

In 2006 I produced my first cd and promoted it at CAAS, along with my arrangement of Sometimes in Life, which was featured in Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine. Now known as Fingerstyle 360.

On my first year I got to meet Mr. Tommy Emmanuel and jam with him for a good 30 minutes on the early morning. He gave me the name guitarlancer, which a lot of you know me by because of my email and website www.guitarlancer.com.

CAAS brings people from all over the world! I’ve met so many finger style guitar players that it may drive someone crazy. I’m sure it has driven some wives quite crazy!

Here’s a list of people I’ve jammed for and met and became aquiantences with.

Tommy Emmanuel, John Knowles, Pat Kirtley, John StandaferNishi Nishiyama Takayuki, Bob Evans, Thom Bresh, Not to mention Keith Fletcher my English buddy, Ben Hall, Mark Pritcher is the president, Tony McManus (Love that guy!) Martin Taylor, Bob Saxton, Michael O’Dorn, John Goldie, Pete Huttlinger, Muriel Anderson, Edgar Cruz, Tim Thompson, Bill Piburn, Fred Kelly Picks, Adam Rafferty, Bobby Gibson, Nokie Edwards, Joe Robinson, Fred Gretcsh III, and many more as you can imagine.

If I’ve left you out and you’re reading this, let me know I’ll give you some props too:)!

I’ve become quite the finger style guitarist as a result of being a member of CAAS and taking in all that I could!

There is also guitar builders there that display there instruments. People such as Kirk Sand guitars, Gretsch, Maton, Travis, Stonebridge, Morris, Beard Guitars, Benedetto Guitars

It’s a great event and one to return to.

Check it out at www.misterguitar.com

Feel free to comment and ask questions..

Here’s some videos of me performing at CAAS 2012
