Tuning your guitar can be a little overwhelming, especially if you’re a beginner. It’s always good to have a music store show you, or tune it for you prior to sending you home with an un-tuned guitar.
There are several ways you can tune a guitar and I recommend trying all of them.
- Using an electronic tuner (Here’s a link to a great online tuner if you have a mic) CLICK HERE
- Comparing to another guitar
- Using ear and intervals to tune
The strings ring notes and there supposed to be be in this order
E A D g b e (high)
6 5 4 3 2 1
The big E is the one closest to your face, and that is called the sixth string. The high e is the little steel string closest to the ground and it is the highest string. It is always called the first string. A lot of people get that mixed up, thinking that the first string is the one closest toy our face.
You will eventually see tablature, and it is written like this
